Completed in 1855 and later moved to its present site, this lighthouse has played a key role in protecting maritime traffic at the entrance to San Francisco Bay. A half-mile trail on the Marin Headlands leads through a rock tunnel and across a footbridge to the historic structure, where visitors admire extravagant scenery.
