Identical towers built in 1828 earned the Navesink Light the nickname “Twin Lights.” In 1841, it became the first lighthouse in the country to have a Fresnel lens. In 1862, a square south tower and north octagonal tower made of brownstone replaced the originals. This National Historic Landmark is on the National Register of Historic Places.
