It produced its first musket in 1794 and was instrumental in the development and manufacturing of military firearms for 174 years. The Main Arsenal at the home of the Springfield rifle used in two world wars houses the world’s largest collection of American small arms. Visitors also tour the historic grounds and peruse exhibits.
