This Navajo Nation site in the Four Corners region once was a swamp roamed by dinosaurs and home to large trees. Fossils and petrified wood now are part of the badlands landscape in this high-desert wilderness, as are eroded hoodoos, arches, spires and other geologic formations. Recreational opportunities include hiking, backpacking, camping and spotting soaring raptors.
