Formed within the limestone of the Llano Estacado, this vivid-blue sinkhole gained prominence in the 1930s for motorists traveling the original Route 66. It is fed by an underground flow of roughly 3,000 gallons per minute and maintains a steady 62°F. Its unusually high visibility is prized by scuba instructors and scientific divers. It has been a nostalgic adventure destination for nearly a century.
