Built in Tucumcari in 1939 by carpenter W. A. Huggins, this prewar motor court remains one of Route 66’s clearest survivors of the roadside travel era. Its signature neon swallows still cast a blue tint over the motel each night, while several rooms retain the private garages that once catered to America’s car-bound road culture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
