It’s one of the world’s largest trees by trunk volume, and this giant sequoia named after the 18th president and famed Civil War general is a true celebrity. The tree is a designated National Shrine honoring service members. A holiday ceremony is held annually at “The Nation’s Christmas Tree,” which is located on a short hiking trail.
