Decorations within the central rotunda invoke wisdom, eternity, vision, courage, integrity, and the major pillars of life in the Mount Rushmore State – agriculture, livestock, mining, and family. Two wings flank this rotunda and serve as the daily workplace of the State Legislature, Governor, and Supreme Court. Construction concluded in 1910 and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
