Several million years ago the flow of the Red River created a cave measuring 8 miles long in Montgomery County. Naturally cool and boasting a constant stream of water, the Dunbar Cave became a sacred place for Mississippian Native Americans in the 14th century. They drew on, and carved into, the limestone walls creating art protected in this prehistoric site and accessible during seasonal tours.
