Many visitors consider the view of the winding Little Missouri River in the valley below from a blufftop shelter to be the finest in the park. The stone structure was built in the 1930s by young men making $30 a month in the employ of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), which made extensive improvements on U.S. public lands.
