When they plant their boots at 8,929 feet atop the park’s high point, hikers take in stunning scenery encompassing Cascade Range mountains and forests, high desert lands to the east and Crater Lake itself. The 4.4-mile-round-trip trek to a summit topped off by a historic fire lookout passes through garish midsummer wildflower blooms.
