The writings of the Scottish-born naturalist, philosopher and adventurer inspired America’s conservation consciousness and led to preservation of some of this country’s precious wild places. The Victorian mansion in which Muir lived during his later years is open to visitors,as are the family graveyard and the nearby Mount Wanda property, where the Muirs enjoyed leisurely nature walks.
