Commissioned in 1975 as the lead ship of its class, it began a new era in American naval strength. This nuclear-powered carrier can operate for decades without refueling. Spanning over 1,000 feet and housing over 5,000 personnel, it can support a full air wing. Now on its final deployment, it is the oldest air-craft carrier in service.
