Few Acadia trails offer as many thrills as this 1.4-mile loop that ascends a rocky 450-foot cliff. Iron rung ladders, handrails and steps aid hikers during the climb, which features considerable exposure and is not recommended for those with a fear of heights. The payoffs are stunning views of Sand Beach and Maine's Atlantic Ocean coast.
